Possibly the most important Brand in the drive for sustainability…

It’s a chap called Stewart Brand. And he’s written a book called An Ecopragmatist Manifesto. Actually the full title is Whole Earth Discipline - an Ecopragmatist Manifesto. But it is a great read, and challenges many of the longstanding non-negotiables for most environmentalists, such as GM crops, geo-engineering and even nuclear power. Which is even more amazing, since this guy was in the vanguard of the US environmental movement back in the 60s and 70s, establishing all of those non-negotiables!

It’s also a great read, since it really reaches across the aisle and makes the case that collaborative pragmatism is what is needed now. That’s a refreshing, bracing approach, and one that business needs to embrace in return. It’s all to play for, and just further supports the research from Havas that shows how a culture of blame and acrimony is now being replaced with an atmosphere of collaboration and vision. Onwards and upwards.

Buy it and read it.

And on the issues of onwards and upwards, this is my last post here, as have now technically left Havas. So I am onwards, even if not as yet upwards…

I have no idea if anyone even reads these posts. But if you do, I will be resuming on my own blog (at Meltwater).

I understand that someone called Sara will be posting Havas’s thoughts on these issues from now on. And am sure she is far smarter and better informed than me.

Happy New Year to everyone/anyone.

Guy
